The Invitation of Beauty

By Jerry Gillis

Reading the Bible is an adventure for me.  Sometimes it's like an amusement park where I soar in the adrenaline of the roller coasters.  Other times it feels like a hike up a mountain - the air gets thin and I get a bloody nose.  Still other times it is akin to a middle school dance: I unashamedly love the music but feel really awkward on the dance floor (plus, I still have have some "space dust" crackling in my mouth and sticking to my last remaining baby tooth). Interruptions

By Jerry Gillis

It seems that Jesus' life was full of interruptions.

Everywhere he went he ended up seemingly working off book by healing someone or helping someone, or even having to answer questions from critics who interrupted his teaching.  Literally, his life seemed to be a string of interruptions. READ MORE...

Clarity

By Jerry Gillis

Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with work, or life, or whatever that I don't really think straight.  It seems that the noise rules sometimes, and my thoughts, ideas, and creativity get muddied.

     I long for clarity sometimes.

There is a clarity that can come to anyone.  Everyone has epiphanies, whether a follower of Jesus or not - everyone experiences moments of clarity.  I know that sometimes when life is on overdrive, when stress is high, and when every string is pulled as tight as it can go - I just need to get out and exercise. Leaders Finish Strong

I was impressed years ago with a story from men’s leader and author Steve Farrar. Paraphrasing his words, his story went like this:

You've heard of the preacher Billy Graham. But what about Chuck Templeton or Bron Clifford? Have you ever heard of them?

Billy Graham wasn't the only young preacher packing auditoriums in 1945. Chuck Templeton and Bron Clifford were accomplishing the same thing – and more.
